Victorias Countryside Retreats

February 22, 2019

Escaping the hustle and bustle of Melbourne, country Victoria holds architecturally striking retreats that are surrounded by rich landscapes and natural beauty.

Follow along and enjoy some of Victoria’s most gorgeous havens.

Daylesford Longhouse in Daylesford

A habitable greenhouse that also functions as a culinary school and boutique farm incorporates striking architectural details. Located in the Elevated Plains the property overlooks the vast bushland of Daylesford. Mt Franklin and Hepburn Springs.

The Longhouse cleverly focuses on indoor/outdoor living and is designed to stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The accommodation includes a semi outdoor bathroom, indoor water feature and pond as well as a fire pit, fireplace and sauna. Additionally, guests are welcomed to harvest herbs and produce from the internal gardens protected from the elements.

Ross Farm in South Gippsland

Created by husband-and-wife duo Robyn and Lindsay Moore the couple enlisted their daughter Andrea to revamp their 1970’s dairy farm. Successfully turning three rundown agricultural buildings into modern holidays homes.

The Cabin, Dairy and Barn can be booked individually or together to enjoy, as well as the central courtyard, outdoor shower, fire pit and scenic countryside.

Cortes Kiln in Gapsted

The Cortes family collaborated with Perth-based practice Whispering Smith Architects to transform a 100-year-old tobacco kiln into a minimal and understated retreat.

Nestled on a heritage Walnut Farm in the High Country, this accommodation fits perfectly for a secluded and intimate stay.

The addition of polished concrete flooring pairs perfectly with crisp white walls and clean lines. A lush internal green courtyard with an in-situ bath for guests invites in an abundance of light and warmth.

Sky High in Mount Franklin

Panoramic views, grand and architecturally impressive, Sky High sits on a 50-acre wellness retreat. Designed by Josh and Tik White of Spa Country Builders, the luxury accommodation captures views of Mount Franklin and the surrounding countryside.

A geometric exterior, sharp in its design feature acute pitched roofs and angled windows. Circular portholes act as frames for the scenery across the property. Internally, polished concrete floors and warm woods create effortless design.
