Tom Ford’s New Hampton Summer Home

October 16, 2023

As someone in the design industry, I try to keep tabs on my favourite icons to stay inspired. Tom Ford is one of them. He’s an American fashion icon associated with classic luxury and timeless style who recently just purchased a tasteful new home in the East Hamptons, New York.

Here’s a fun fact: Tom Ford’s gorgeous new property is Jackie O’s former Hamptons Summer Home and it’s called Lasata which means “place of peace” in Algonquin.

This beautiful East Hampton Summer Home is where Jackie Kennedy, the embodiment of timeless elegance - another style inspiration of mine, spent her summers growing up.

Lasata has a nine-bedroom manse that was originally built in 1917, which is why it has the classic American architecture that’s pretty hard to find in today’s market. Over the years, the property changed hands, leading to multiple stylish renovations.

The 16,000-square-foot home sits on 7.15 acres of land that features a caretaker’s cottage, a pool house, and a two-bedroom guest house.

The most recent renovations were carried out by Pierre Yovanovitch and let me tell you that no expense was spared. Imagine, Parisian painters were flown in just to brush the summer home’s walls in a unique cotton stroke.

The results? A breathtaking home that makes one feel as if they’re in paradise.

Yovanovitch's vision translated into a beautiful traditional East Coast meets modern West Coast design. Every piece of furniture was mindfully chosen from different eras to create a welcoming space. A combination of vintage and modern on dark wooden parquet floors - classic!

The sophisticated dining room has built-in bookshelves and a striking cobalt blue fireplace that will draw all eyes. The Paavo Tynell snowflake chandelier hanging over the table also adds a softness to the Scandinavian-style room.

The muted master’s bedroom has the best view as it overlooks the grounds. It’s furnished with some timeless furniture and is designed with some modern pieces.

One of the guest bedrooms in Lasata has twin beds and a fireplace for a cozy feel. The blue accents give it a pop of colour without going too far from the home’s timeless charm.

The summer home’s amazing living room is perfect for entertaining guests with the beautiful fireplace that’s highlighted by bespoke tiles and dark plush sofas. This room also has white box-panelled walls and beamed ceilings to give the room a bright aesthetic that’ll make any of Tom Ford’s guests feel right at home.

Don’t you just love exploring the homes of celebrity icons? The effort and art put into it really makes it one-of-a-kind. Especially when they combine pieces from different eras.
